Teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji

Guru Nanak Dev Ji and Bhai Mardana Ji

Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji and Bhai Mardana Ji

This picture does not depicts the teacher and disciple, but the relationship between the teacher and the true companion. Brother Mardana was childhood friend of Guru Nanak Dev. He was a Rababist and remained with Guru Ji in every sadness (religious journey).

Where Guru Nanak Dev ji used to give his speech, there brother Mardana ji used to convey him to the public through music. This sangat became the foundation of Kirtan tradition by walking forward.

The message of Guru Nanak Dev ji was very clear. God is one, the discrimination of caste and religion is vain, and service to humanity is true worship.

Bhai Mardana Ji was the living embodiment of this teaching. Though born a Muslim, he became one of the most respected figures in Sikh history.

“Aku father x k hum barik ਮ
You are my teacher high ॥”

(We are all children of the same Father; He alone is our true teacher.)

The oneness of all humanity is the immortal teaching of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

Khalsa of Waheguru, Victory of Waheguru.
