Gurudwara Shri Guru Nanak Sahib, also known as the Panchayati Gurudwara, is one of the oldest and most revered Sikh shrines in Jammu. It is located in the old city near Mubarak Mandi, close to the historic heart of Jammu. This Gurdwara holds deep spiritual and historical significance, especially for commemorating the visit of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of Sikhism.

The Gurdwara marks the site where Guru Nanak Dev Ji is believed to have stayed during his travels (Udasis) across the Indian subcontinent in the early 16th century.

Originally built as a Dharamshala, it was later converted into a full-fledged Gurdwara by the local Sikh Sangat (community).

A highly unusual aspect: the Gurdwara houses a 3-foot white marble statue of Guru Nanak Dev Ji in a meditative posture.

This statue was installed by Maharaja Pratap Singh (Dogra ruler of Jammu and Kashmir, 1885–1925).

It is extremely rare to find any idol or statue inside a Gurdwara, as Sikhism generally opposes idol worship. However, this statue has been preserved for its heritage and historical significance, not as an object of worship.
