Ghudani Kalan is an important village associated with Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji.

After being released from Gwalior, Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji was travelling to Amritsar. When Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji arrived in Ghudani Kalan during 1631 he first stopped to rest here. At that time a Sadhu was living here.

The Sadhu served Guru Hargobind with water and had a spiritual discussion with Guru Ji. Guru Hargobind set the sadhu free from the cycle of life and death. When villagers heard that Guru Hargobind had come, they invited Guru Ji into their village.

Guru Hargobind stayed here at the house of Baba Surtya Ji. Gurdwara Sri Haveli Sahib is also known as Gurdwara Sri Bharhaula Sahib.

As there was no food to provide langar for Guru Hargobind, Guru Ji asked for some wheat. Baba Surtya's wife had none to give except for a few seeds left around the chakki (millstone). Guru Hargobind put the dried wheat into a Bharhaula, which is a storage pot, with strict instructions not to lift the lid and look inside. Guru Ji said that whenever wheat was required the Bharhaula would provide it. The wheat came out of the bottom of the Bharhaula for many years
