Bibi Viro Ji was the only daughter of Sri Guru Hargobind Ji and Mata Damodari, her marriage to Bhai Sadhu took place here.

Bibi Ji was married to Bhai Sadhu, son of Bhai Dharma who was from village Malla in district Faridkot, Punjab. This Gurdwara Sahib is situated very near Gurdwara Sri Mai Bhago.

Mai Bhago was a descendant of Pero Shah, the younger brother of Bhai Launga, a Dhillon Jatt who had converted and become a Sikh during the time of Sri Guru Arjan Sahib Ji.

Mai Bhago was born at her ancestral village of Chabal Kalan at the site of Gurdwara Sri Mai Bhago. Mai Bhag Kaur, as she was also known after taking Amrit, wanted to stop injustices and violence against the Sikhs. She had inherited from her family ideals of bravery and courage. Faith, truth, and fearlessness were her ornaments.

Mai Bhago, along with her family, visited Guru Tegh Bahadur twice. She also visited Anandpur with her father in 1699 when Guru Gobind Singh created the Khalsa and was intitiated into the Khalsa along with other members of her family.
