This shrine commemorates a dramatic episode from the life of Sri Guru Har Gobind Sahib Ji, the sixth Sikh Guru, on 4 March 1612, during a journey towards Gwalior with Emperor Jahangir
The local villagers alerted Jahangir about a ferocious lion ("Sher") terrorizing them. The emperor, possibly intending to use this as an opportunity to harm the Guru, led a hunt into the forest
When the lion attacked Jahangir, Guru Har Gobind Ji courageously intervened, placing himself between the lion and the emperor. He reportedly addressed the lion:
"Ae kale yamanpehlan toon waarkarlaekidretere man di icchabaakina reh jaye" — urging the creature to fulfill its desire in him first. He then shielded the lion and struck it dead in one decisive motion, showcasing both his spiritual and physical strength
