Gurudwara Sri Kodiwala (Kodyala) Ghat Sahib stands in the village of Babarpur, Tehsil Pallia Kalan, in Lakhimpur Kheri district. Guru Nanak Dev Ji arrived here late at night during his third Udasi, when no proper arrangements could be made, and spent the night in the hut of a fakir suffering from leprosy, performing kirtan and meditation there. The kirtan brought the fakir a peace he had perhaps not known in many nights, and by morning he begged Guru Sahib for help.

Guru Sahib told him to bathe in the nearby pond, and with Guru Sahib’s blessing, the fakir was cured. When the villagers heard what had happened, they came to Guru Sahib seeking forgiveness for their earlier neglect of him, and Guru Sahib asked them to build a rest house here for travellers — the very site where this Gurudwara now stands.
