Gurudwara Sri Gurplaha Sahib stands in the village of Baathu in Una district. Guru Gobind Singh Ji shared a deep bond with Baba Kaladhari, the ninth descendant of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, and would call him from Dera Baba Nanak to Una Sahib to spend time together. Whenever Guru Sahib was at Anandpur Sahib, Baba Kaladhari would set out from Una to meet him, and Guru Sahib would do the same in return — and the spot where the two friends would meet, beneath a dense Palaha tree, came to be called Gurplaha.

Here the two would talk of matters both political and spiritual, hunt together, and play the ancient game of Chaupar. Guru Gobind Singh Ji blessed Baba Kaladhari with the promise of a brilliant grandson who would carry his mission forward — a blessing fulfilled in Baba Sahib Singh Bedi, who helped lay the foundations of the Khalsa Empire and, on Vaisakhi in 1801, baptised Maharaja Ranjit Singh as its emperor.
