Religious and Historic Importance
Takht Sachkhand Sri Hazur Abchalnagar Sahib Ji is located on the serene banks of the Godavari River in Nanded, Maharashtra. Also affectionately known as "Abchalnagar" (Steadfast City) and "Sachkhand" (Realm of Eternal Truth), this shrine holds deeply revered historical significance.
It is here that Tenth Master Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji spent his final months and left his physical form in October 1708. Crucially, before passing away, Guru Gobind Singh Ji ended human Guruship forever and bestowed eternal Guruship upon the holy scripture: "Sab Sikhan Ko Hukam Hai Guru Manyo Granth" (All Sikhs are commanded to take the Granth as their Guru).
The inner sanctum (Angitha Sahib) marks the exact sacred spot where Guru Gobind Singh Ji was cremated. Maharaja Ranjit Singh commissioned the construction of the present grand Gurudwara complex between 1832 and 1837.
Unlike other Takhts, Hazur Sahib maintains distinct ancient Maryada (traditions) established directly during Guru Ji's time, including the daily ceremonial display (Jalau) of priceless historical weapons (Shastras) belonging to Guru Gobind Singh Ji, such as his golden dagger, matchlock gun, shield, and iron bows.
