Formally known as Shri Guru Singh Sabha Gurdwara, it is often referred to locally as the Sikh Mandir of Fancy Bazaar.
Situated in the heart of Guwahati on SS Road near Lakhtokia and Fancy Bazaar — one of the city’s busiest commercial districts.
Established around 1914 on land generously donated by Khan Bahadur Ida Khan, elder brother of former President Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed.
The initial structure was a corrugated iron-sheet building; replaced with a one-storey RCC building in 1925–26, and expanded into a five-storey structure by 1975.
Today, the temple is a vibrant spiritual centre for Guwahati’s estimated Sikh population of over 6,000 and serves as the administrative hub for multiple Gurudwaras across the city.
