Takht Sri Damdama Sahib stands at Talwandi Sabo in the Bathinda district of Punjab, and is one of the five Takhts — the seats of temporal authority — of the Sikh faith. The name Damdama means a resting place, and marks the months Guru Gobind Singh Ji spent here after the battle of Muktsar in 1705.

It was here that Guru Gobind Singh Ji prepared the final recension of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, dictating it to Bhai Mani Singh and adding the hymns of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. That volume is known as the Damdami Bir. For the learning that flowed from this place, it came to be called Guru Ki Kashi.
