Gurudwara Shri Baag Shaheedan Sahib stands in Sector 44 of Chandigarh, marking the site where Baba Sukha Singh Ji — younger brother of Baba Baaz Singh Ji, Governor of Sirhind under Baba Banda Singh Bahadur — and his fellow warriors attained martyrdom. Nearby, the Mughal rulers of Barael village had subjected the local population to years of tyranny, seizing wedding processions and dishonouring the brides they carried.

When pleas for justice went unanswered, the villagers turned to Baba Sukha Singh Ji, who devised a plan: a false message lured the greedy Mughal rulers into this very garden to ambush a "wealthy bridal procession" that carried only stones. As they lay in ambush, the Khalsa seized their fort. Baba Harkirat Singh Ji led the first charge and fell in battle, and Baba Sukha Singh Ji then led his own warriors into the fight, defeating the tyrants before attaining martyrdom himself — freeing the village and its people.
