After the Battle of Chamkaur Sahib (December 1705) and the martyrdom of his two sons and about 35 Sikhs, Guru Gobind Singh Ji escaped the fort and traversed the Machhiwara forest—a thorny jungle near today’s Machhiwara town

He finally reached a garden area with a well, drank water, used a Tind pot as a pillow, and rested under an ancient Jand tree, commemorated today at the site of Gurdwara Charan Kanwal Sahib

While resting, he recited the sacred shabad:“Mitar Pyare Nu Haal Murida Da Kehna...” which appears in the sixth stanza of Shabad Hazare from the Dasam Granth

Three of his devoted Sikhs—Bhai Daya Singh, Bhai Dharam Singh, and Bhai Man Singh—found and reunited with him at this very spot

Subsequently, the local masand Gulab Chand introduced Guru Ji to his house (now Gurdwara Chubara Sahib), marking another historic site just ~950 meters away
