Gurudwara Sri Chauni Sahib stands in the village of Akalgarh, Paonta Sahib tehsil, Sirmaur district. Guru Gobind Singh Ji trained his Singhs here, preparing warriors such as Bhai Sango Shah, Bhai Ganga Ram, Bhai Jeet Mal, Bhai Mahri Chand, and Bhai Gulab Chand, and appointing them as generals in his army. Peer Buddu Shah, with his four sons, and Sant Kirpal Das, with his own followers, also joined the training here.
Guru Sahib named this the Singhs’ Army Camp, Akalgarh Sahib, and it was from this very ground that he performed ardas before setting out for the Battle of Bhangani.
