Gurudwara Sri Shikaar Ghaat Sahib stands at Punegaon on the bank of the Godavari, about six km from Sachkhand Sri Hazur Sahib. While out hunting here, Guru Gobind Singh Ji came upon a rabbit that, in a former life, had been Bhai Mula of Sialkot, a devoted follower who had once travelled with Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
Bhai Mula had left one of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s journeys midway to attend to his family, and later, torn between love for the Guru and fear of being asked to leave home again, hid from Guru Sahib rather than refuse him outright — only to die soon after of a snakebite while still in hiding. His repentant soul had since wandered through various lesser births, until Guru Gobind Singh Ji, recognising him, set him free from the cycle of birth and death at this very spot.
