The land was owned by Rai Jagat Singh and his younger brother Rup Chand. While Jagat Singh initially refused shelter, Rup Chand—being co-owner—allowed Guru Gobind Singh Ji to stay after receiving compensation

Historical records also mention other names like Budhi Chand and Gharibu as alternate landlords in older chronicles

Guru Ji is believed to have visited this site earlier in 1702 en route to Kurukshetra
