Gurudwara Sri Moti Bagh Sahib stands on the Ring Road near Dhaula Kuan in Delhi, on the ground where Guru Gobind Singh Ji camped with his army. Once known as Mochi Bagh, the site came to be called Moti Bagh in time. From a distance of eight miles, Guru Sahib announced his arrival in the city by shooting an arrow into the leg of the throne on which Emperor Bahadur Shah sat in the Red Fort.

Startled by the arrow, the emperor at first took it for a miracle — until a second arrow struck the other leg of the throne, this time with a note explaining that it was skilled archery, not magic. Impressed by the precision of the shot, Bahadur Shah acknowledged Guru Sahib’s mastery and the discipline of the Khalsa he had raised.
