Gurudwara Sri Nanak Piao Sahib
Grand Trunk Road, near Sabzi Mandi  ·  Delhi

Gurudwara Sri Nanak Piao Sahib stands near Sabzi Mandi on the Grand Trunk Road in Delhi. During the reign of Sikandar Lodi, Guru Nanak Dev Ji halted here with Bhai Mardana Ji, in a garden that travellers on this great highway used as a resting place from the scorching heat. Guru Sahib turned a well in the garden into a piao (water stop), where tired travellers could drink and eat freely at the langar he established.

Word of Guru Sahib’s presence spread through Delhi, and sadhus and yogis came to discuss questions of faith with him. Whatever offerings were made at this place were given away to the poor and needy through the langar. Even Emperor Sikandar Lodi, impressed by what he heard of Guru Sahib, came here to meet him.
