Gurdwara Sri Arisar Sahib is situated between the villages of Dhaula and Handiaya in the Barnala district. Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji came here from the place now marked by Gurdwara Sri Kacha Gurusar Sahib at Handiaya, during the tour of the Malwa region that took the ninth Guru through village after village of this country in 1665.
Local tradition holds that Guru Sahib’s horse stopped here and would not move on. When the sangat asked why, Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji explained that tobacco fields lay ahead. Guru Sahib foretold that a time would come when this region would be full of Gursikhs. From here Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji went on to the place now known as Gurdwara Sri Sohiana Sahib.
