Bhadaur is a town in the Barnala district, and three historic Gurdwaras stand in and just outside it. Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji came to Bhadaur from Dina in December 1704, in the months after leaving Anandpur Sahib, when the area was still an uninhabited jungle.

It was after Bhadaur was founded by Baba Ala Singh, the eighteenth-century Sikh warrior and noble, that a Gurdwara commemorating the tenth Guru’s visit was established here.

Local tradition also preserves the memory of Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji having passed through this place, so that the shrine within the fort was designated Gurdwara Sahib Patshahi Chhevin Ate Dasvin — dedicated to the sixth and the tenth Gurus alike. A sword and a dagger believed to have come down from Guru Gobind Singh Ji are kept at Bhadaur as sacred relics; the hilt of the sword carries the Gurmukhi inscription Sri Akal Sahai Patshahi 10.
