Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji arrived at Mehal Kalan from the village of Littran. At that time the surrounding country was covered with dense bushes and trees, and the villagers did not come out to welcome Guru Sahib.

After resting a while, Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji made ready to leave. A villager named Karaha Mal, hearing that Guru Sahib was nearby, came to serve and brought food and water. Guru Sahib was pleased with his seva and said that Karaha’s pots — his karahe — would always remain full.

Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji said that at this place the first prayer would go unanswered and every prayer after it would be heard. The sangat of the village has held that to be true ever since.
