Gurudwara Sri Patshahi Chevin Sahib stands about a kilometre from the main shrine of Gurudwara Sri Nanakmatta Sahib, marking a point on Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji’s approach to the sacred site. Baba Almast Ji, driven from Nanakmatta and seeing the Sidh yogis rename it Gorakhmata and burn the pipal tree under which Guru Nanak Dev Ji had meditated, had sent word to Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji at Daroli Bhai.

When word of the Guru’s approach reached Raja Baj Bahadur of Pilibhit, sent for by the Sidhs, he left his army encamped near this spot and went ahead to see for himself — only to recognise Guru Sahib as the very one who had freed him and fifty-one other kings from the fort of Gwalior, and to fall at his feet in devotion. Guru Sahib then went on to Nanakmatta itself, and from there travelled with the Raja to Pilibhit.
